(click on image for information on Phelps)On Sunday, August 17, 2008 in the 2008 Summer Olympics at Beijing, China. Michael Phelps of USA set the new 8 gold medals in a single Olympiad world record. Phelps beat Spitz’s 7 gold medals record.
Phelps also received the FINA, the sport’s governing body, best swimmer of the meet award. Phelps received gold medals in these swimming events:
1. 400 individual medley
2. 4x100 freestyle relay
3. 200 freestyle
4. 200 butterfly
5. 4x200 freestyle relay
6. 200 individual medley
7. 100 butterfly
8. 4x100 medley relay
